Applications for Membership
Our Members specialize in Realism and Representational watermedia, oil, acrylic, pastels, colored pencil, sculpture and mixed media painting, graphics and drawing. The AAPL represents artists residing and working across the United States and territories. AAPL members' benefits include: a full roster of online and in-person shows; the maintenance of an online artwork store where works in members-only shows may be sold; two in-person gallery shows per year including the historic Grand National Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club of NY; a quarterly newsletter called The Grapevine in which members share their accomplishments; a member map on the AAPL homepage where artists' websites, workshop links and other information may be viewed; promotion through social media posts; digital and print marketing of members in major art magazines; weekly member interviews on Instagram Live; and inclusion in full-color exhibition catalogs. The non-refundable application fee for Associate Artist, Elected Artist and Life Memberships is $80. Applications are reviewed at the monthly AAPL board meetings. Membership dues must be maintained to use the benefits. Membership renewals are due January 1st of each year. Any member whose dues have lapsed for one year must pay one year back dues and the current year dues in full for their previous membership level to be reinstated. If the membership has lapsed more than one year, they may reapply for membership and pay a re-entry fee of $80. Awards won or having work juried into the Grand National Exhibition, when an artist is not a paid member don't count towards membership promotions. Only Realist or Representational works will be considered. Works in oil, acrylic, watermedia, mixed media, pastel, graphics, colored pencil and sculpture must be original and copyrighted images by others can not have been incorporated into the work. Photographs, digital art, digital prints and AI generated art are not eligible. For prints, woodblocks, etchings, fine art lithographs, monotypes and engravings will be considered. Types not allowed are giclees, mechanical lithographs, pigment transfer and screenprints. |
ASSOCIATE ARTIST MEMBERS - $60
Supporter of representational and traditional realism. Help to promote, encourage, and advance the cause of fine arts in America. Associate level is for beginning artists, enthusiasts, and emerging artists.
Associates Members are entitled to:
• Membership in a nationally prestigious art club
• Associate Artist Members Online Show, year-long Affordable Artwork Sale online
• Complimentary Newsletters, inclusion in the AAPL Grapevine
• Discounted entry fee for the AAPL's annual juried show, Grand National Exhibition
• Member-Gallery and Member Map entry
• Limited social media reposts
• Instagram Live interview
Associate Artists applications and portfolios will be reviewed by the AAPL. Applications are reviewed at the monthly AAPL board meetings. In certain cases, an applicant for Associate Artist may be encouraged to accept an Elected Artist Membership. Associate Artists who are accepted into the Grand National Exhibition will automatically be promoted to Elected Artist Members. Artist who have applied for Elected Membership status and are rejected will be given a one year Associate Artists Membership and may reapply at a later time.

ELECTED ARTIST MEMBER - $80
EAM APPLICATIoN
Those who have been approved by the Membership Committee of the National Board of Directors or those that have been accepted into one or more Grand National Exhibitions. Elected level is for emerging artists, semi-professional, and professionals.

To apply for membership as an elected artist member (EAM) please email membership form along with six images of your work to admin@aaplinc.org You will be contacted to arrange for the non-refundable application fee of $80 can be paid by check/money order, or through payment tab.
Please be sure the photography of your work is sharp, clear and professional. Resolution is best at 1200 pixels resolution and at least 600 pixels wide and saved in the following formats, high resolution .jpeg or .png.
SIGNATURE MEMBER - $85
Benefits are the same as an Elected Artist Member, with these additions:
• Permission to append AAPL to the artist's signature on all their works
• Listing of honor in the GNE catalog
Criteria:
Acceptance into three Grand National Exhibitions and winner of one GNE Award
NOTE: The award of Signature Membership requires the unanimous vote of approval by the AAPL Board of Directors.
LIFE MEMBER - One-time fee of $1,000
Life APPLICATION
Lifetime membership as an Artist or Art Supporter. Artists must be juried as Life Members using Elected Artist Member criteria. Download the application form then email admin@aaplinc.org.
Life Member artists may enjoy the same benefits as Elected Artist Members, plus the entry fee is waived for the Grand National Exhibition.
HONORARY MEMBER
Honorary Membership shall be bestowed to an individual deemed by the Board of Directors and Officers to be an exceptional member.
PATRONS & BENEFACTORS
Patrons and Benefactors are those who consider our high objectives worthy of backing and would like to make a donation to our efforts through the American Artists Fund, the charitable, educational adjunct of the AAPL. Coherent fine art urgently needs the solid support of American art patrons.
Patron Member- $100 or more are listed in the catalog.
Benefactor Member- $250 or more.
